I first fell in love with group fitness classes while I was in college. Taking the classes offered through my school seemed to be the only way I could get motivated to work out. It was instructional AND fun. After college, I joined a local gym and continued to attend group fitness classes on a regular basis. I had thoughts of becoming an instructor but was afraid to make the commitment.
When I took my first Zumba class in 2010 I was introduced to a whole different kind of fitness class. The energy, the music, the fun and the workout were amazing. After attending Zumba on a regular basis for some months I decided to take the plunge and become an instructor.
I became a certified Zumba instructor in April of 2011 and a NETA certified group fitness instructor in May of 2011. I have been teaching Zumba classes since June of 2011 and I love every minute of it. I like to call it the workout happy hour. I like to encourage everyone to feel welcome. There is no judgement in my classes. So feel free to come to class and shake it as much or as little as you feel comfortable. I always say, everyone in the room is more concerned about themselves than with you. Don’t worry about who’s looking at you or what you look like, just have fun and keep moving!
